Ram
My computer is OK I think, but when I go into HoH area, it takes like 40 seconds to load me in, and my group is wasted and they spawn kill me. I do not think my graphics card is the problem of me loading in so slow(GEFORCE2), I think it is my RAM (256K). Does anyone know any stores you can buy RAM? I dont buy things online, credit cards = waste of money, however I find a lot of good sites that have RAM for sale, NEWEGG.com. Does anyone know of any stores that sell RAM? I checked BBY, but they have wierd graphics cards, like GeForce 8812 or something like that for $300. I never heard of 4 digit Geforce before. All I see in BBY is graphics cards and no RAM, unless they say something else on the box instead of RAM. Can someone help me out. I personally think 512 RAM is for me, I think 256 is a bit slow nowdays.
What stores sell RAM, what will it say on the box?

I myself, for computer hardware <IE: keyboards, mice, speakers, cases, custom parts, Prefer Newegg.com>
Http://Www.Newegg.com <---One of the best sites imho for customizing computers
Now for software, IE: Ram, and whatnot, I highly recommend you bargain shop around, heck, I'd even use EBAY for the fact ram gotten there tends to be 70%ish off what you'll buy retail.
It also depends on what type of RAM you're looking into, as different types cost different amounts and perform better for different tasks. Some stores I'd recommend for RAM: http://www.4allmemory.com and http://www.ArchMemory.com are just some of the more well-know sites. Like I said; you'll want to bargain shop for the best buy, so be ready to do some pencil/paper homework to compare prices and what the ram does for you.
I also, run 512. I'm looking to upgrade myself; but the game runs Wonderfully on 512, seamless, with my GeForce3 200 Ti.
Hope this helped.

Ok cool, I am taking computer hardware class, we are studing RAM, I was wondering how can you check your motherboard for the type of RAM you will need if possible? Like PC3200 type RAM, PC2700 RAM, etc. I dont want to buy RAM and then have to bring it back because my motherboard doesnt run with this type of RAM. And will I also need to buy a heatsink? I believe RAM causes some heat in the machine.

Simple. Here's a couple ways:
Start --> Run --> type in DXDIAG <directx diagnostic tool>
and Right click on my computer --> Properties. Check around there as well.
If after both these you still can't locate the type, check under control panel --> Display.
Hope this helped.

Wow, thanks, I didnt know I had Geforce 3 200Ti, same as yours. I reinstalled my comp like 4 months ago, after I bought it like 5 years ago. And I could not locate where it told me my GeForce so I set it as 2. But I still cannot find where it gives the PC3200 or 2700 information, what would it be under in the dxdiag?

512MB of ram isn't sufficient for WinXP anymore if you want to avoid chronic disk swaps. 1 Gig RAM really is a more reasonable spec.

True. 1Gb is the new minimum. When Vista comes out...you will want 2Gb. But thats another story.

512 Runs everything I need, pretty damn good. I'm not saying 1g or 2g wouldn't seriously be nice ^_^ but you know, for the time, 512 runs it well.

I also have never had a single issue with 512 but if I were upgrading I would go for 1 or 2 gb cause the standard will surpass 512 shortly

Your Ram will mirror the speed of your FSB(front side bus) , this is the speed your processor will run at i.e 100mhz, 133mhz, 166mhz, 200mhz(not the I have a 2ghz pent4 speed). It would be handy to know what cpu you have. but you can use any ram speed, as long as it's the same type, i.e sdram, ddr, rambus. If you have a FSB of say 133mhz and you buy pc3200 which runs at 200mhz, the new ram would not run at 200 but at what your Fsb is(133 in this example).
Does that make sense to you?

exactly right, If you really want to up the speed of your ram and you have low fsb then you may want to look into upgrading...
